Bennett's Baptism

Bennett turned 8 and was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 24, 2013. It was a pretty special day. Grandma Julie gave a talk on baptism. Grandma Beth gave a talk on the Holy Ghost. Aunt Heather played the piano and Uncle Rob and Grandpa Tom gave the opening and closing prayers. Matt both baptized and confirmed the Holy Ghost on Bennett. As a family we are so thankful the have the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our lives. We are grateful for the blessing of baptism and for our Savior, Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for us and took upon Him our sins, so that we could repent and return to live with our Heavenly Father. I am also grateful that through Heavenly Father's plan we are able to be sealed to our families for all time and eternity. I can't think of any other people I would rather spend eternity with.

So we invited our families to Bennett's baptism. They were all planning on arriving the night before. Grandma Julie made it. Grandma and Grandpa Washburn made it. Heather and Jason, not so much. As we were eating pizza Matt gets a text from Jason at 8:30pm saying, "Hit a cow,we're fine" It wasn't much to go on. We knew that they had made it past Jackson Hole. So Matt and I decided to get in the car and see if we could find them. Tom got in our truck and followed us. Jason and Heather had been pulling a camp trailer behind. When we came upon them they were about 40 minutes out. There had been a black cow in the middle of the road. Jason swerved to miss it and went into the ditch, came back up and was headed into the other lane of traffic where another car was coming, he jerked the truck back and the trailer struck the cow. The truck and the trailer made a slow decent onto it's side, blocking both lanes of traffic. It was a pretty scary sight to come upon. Everyone was fine. When I got out of the car Ethan came running up to me saying, "I saved Kinzlee's life, I saved her life!" Apparently when the truck went on it's side Ethan made sure to hold Kinzlee's car seat up. He was pretty proud of himself. The trailer was not fine. They had been planning on staying in the trailer in our back yard. It was all loaded and set up with their clothes and food. The front of the trailer where it was hitched to the truck had exploded open. Tyler, Matt's brother, was actually on his way over and had come upon the wreck and had stayed to help. Tyler, Jason, and Matt began trying to get as much as they could out of the trailer. They had to climb up and drop down into it since the door was point up to the sky. It was a mess! When the wrecker finally got there and it was decided there was not much else to do, we headed back to Lander. We dropped Heather, Jason, and the kids off at the hotel at 2 am. Needless to say we were all a little frazzled and daized during Bennett's baptism, but I'm glad everyone was safe and unharmed.
