July 4th!

One of my favorite holidays cause it's in the hot summer time!

This year our family stuck around Lander. We had heard for years how wild and crazy people get around here. We started the day out with going to the parade on Main Street. It was a nice parade, but to be honest, it didnt compare to the Soda Springs parade in the candy department. But at the end of the parade the fire engines came and sprayed water all over the crowd. Some people got soaked and for most it turned into a huge water fight. After the parade we headed home and the kids played while Matt and I replanted our bushes that had died that spring. After spending the afternoon in the sun, we went back to the now, quiet Main Street to Ken and Betty's Ice Cream Parlor and enjoyed some icies.
Once dusk hit people started their fireworks. This was quite amazing. We headed to the foothills that over look Lander and watched. I can honestly say I have never seen anything like it. All over town fireworks were exploding and it went on for hours. We finally came home and laid down in our backyard and watched the sky all around us erupt with fireworks for another couple of hours. We finally gave up and headed to bed

Summer Activities

Both Bennett and Jacks participated in track this summer. They both did an awesome job and had fun. They are both pretty fast boys. But that's to be expected after their years of practice running away from me.

Jacks and Jemma also started horseback riding lessons. They were beyond excited. Bennett couldn't participate because of his allergy to horses. Jemma and Jacks enjoyed the lessons so much, until I noticed that Jemma was getting hives on her arms and her eye was starting to swell. When I told her I thought she was allergic to horses she kept saying, "I can't be! I love horses! It must be the grass!"

Poor girl! She was devastated to think she couldn't ride horses anymore. We have appointments for Bennett and Jemma to get allergy tested later in the summer to see how sever their allergies are and what exactly they are allergic to. We will see!

Worthlin Meadows

We decided we needed a break from our chores so we loaded up the truck with bikes, fishing poles, four wheeler and hot dogs and headed up Sinks Canyon. The kids always enjoy being out in the wild.
Unbenounced to me, Jemma and Bennett had packed their swimsuits and were determined to wade into the freezing lake. There was no talking them out of it so the waded in and came out pop cycles. Jacks was just as determined to catch a fish, however I don't think the fish were biting while we were there.

Ed Young Peak

The kids and I went hiking with their Cub Scout troop. We were told it was an easy hike. I picture an easy hike as a nice dirt path that Jemma and I could skip along on. It ended up being strait up a hill side with no path and scratchy twigs and rocks we had to wade through.
The plus side? We got to spend time together and... Well that was just about the only upside of the hike.

Grace & Felicity Time!

On our way back from our Grand Canyon Hike, we stopped in Highland to rest at the Hammonds. Grace and Felicity decided they needed some cousin time in Lander, so we loaded the up and decided to spoil them with Kneaders French toast.

Towards the end of their stay, the kids talked me into setting up the tent in the backyard. They lasted about 30 minutes by themselves before they all trooped in and went to their own beds.
