Winter State Champion!
Bennett had an amazing time at Winter State. His first swim he took 9 seconds off his 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:40.46 and placed 9th out 25 swimmers. That evening was his relay team took first place, finishing a whole 12 seconds before the second place team. His next swim was the 50 Breaststroke. He ended up taking even more time off his stroke and he placed 8th out of 23 swimmers with a personal best time of 44.55 seconds. We are so proud of Bennett. He has worked so hard this swim season, and has even inspired Jacksen to try some swim meets next season. Bennet is a hard worker and has a lot of determination inside him.

Gillette, WY
We are in Gillette for the State Championship Swim Meet. So to prepare Bennett for his meet tomorrow we are training hard in the hotel swimming pool. Training requires the kids to tire themselves out completely so that they eat and sleep well. Hopefully the plan works!
Jr. Tiger Basketball
I dropped the ball on taking any pictures of Bennett and Jacksen during their Jr. Jazz basketball games, but I did manage to snap a few shots at one of Jacks' Jr. Tiger games. He did awesome this year. He's really learned how to make great passes and great baskets. He and his friend Porter are on the same team and have carried their team to a winning season. I'm glad Jacks has found something he enjoys doing.
Jackson Matthew
Jacks turned 9 years old!
Jacks made a couple of requests for his birthday. He wanted crepes for dinner and he wanted a giant Reses Peanut Butter Cup. One of his dreams came true. We actually had crepes for dinner the night before so it seemed a little redundant to have them again. The Reses Peanut Butter Cup turned out successful, however, it was so rich that we could only eat a sliver. Then we headed to watch a movie at the theater. We watched Kung Fu Panda 3.
Jacksen is such a happy boy! He becomes very passionate about learning new things that interest him. He is always thinking of a way to do a practical joke on someone. We are so lucky to have this guy in our family. Happy Birthday Jacksen!

Jemma Julianne
Jemma Julianne turned 7!!!
I was so not ready for my baby girl to turn 7. I want her to be 4 for ever. Unfortunely, I have no say in the matter.
Jemma was so excited for her birthday this year. She kept a countdown on her calendar since the summer. So to start her day off right, we had Birthday Cake Breakfast! And a brand new Birthday outfit to wear to school. She left for school with a smile on her face. However, when I picked her up from school she had a fever and the sniffles. That night we had, per her request, crepes. She could barely eat. She payed at the counter with her head resting on her arms as we sang. She opened her presents with as much enthusiasm. The poor girl was not feeling well at all. I made her stay home the next day because her fever was still pretty high. She cried and begged to go to school because it was her say to show her class all her baby pictures. Luckily, her teacher let her pick another day. After a couple days of fever she was feeling better and finally able to play with her presents.
I am so grateful to have Jemma Julianne in our family. She is loud and loves to rough house with the boys. She burps and is not lady like most of the time. But I love her love for life, I love to watch her dance and have fun. I love that she still likes to cuddle with me and read books. She definitely has her mom and dad wrapped around her finger. We think she is adorable! We love you Jemma!
Living History Museum
Jacksen's class participated in a living history museum and Jacks chose Barnum Brown, a paleontologist, to do his report on.
Jacks did an amazing job. He wrote a 3 page report and memorized it! I had several parents and teachers come up to me to tell me how much they appreciated Jacksen's presentation. And how impressed they were that he had memorized it and looked them in they eye as he delivered his speech. Memorizing the report was not required and all the other kids had to read their reports. Jacksen went the extra mile, and it showed! He is so smart and doing so well in school. I couldn't be prouder of him!
Ice Fishing
If there is one thing 99% of the Washburn and Plaisted families like to do, it is ice fishing in the winter.
Matt and Dan decided to buy Reservation tags this year so they could fish a little closer to home. They have been taking the kids to Rays Lake which is about 10 minutes away and have had great success! They kids love it and have found some good fishing spots!
New Years Eve 2015
New Year Eve we all took Grandma Julie out to dinner at Johnny Carionos and then to the movie, Alvin and the Road Chip.
It was a later movie, so we headed home and got the kids in bed. They were all pretty tired after their late nights up with the cousins. Grandma Julie, Matt, and I stayed up chatting. A while after Bennnett was suppose to be in bed asleep, he came out excited! He had made it to midnight! He had been reading to keep himself awake. He happily went to bed and fell quickly fell asleep. I didn't have the heart to dampen his excitement in telling him that Grandma had never changed her clocks at daylight savings and they were an hour off. It was actually only 11pm.
The next morning we packed up all our belongings and headed for home.
2015 has been a great year for the Washburn Family. We have been so greatly blessed by our Father in Heaven. My hope for our family for the year 2016 is to draw closer to the Lord and be a light to those around us so we can show Heavenly Father how grateful we are.
